John Batchelor and I welcomed back Dr. David Grinspoon for a double segment to discuss the upcoming LPI workshop on Venus with the Russian Venera-D efforts.  In addition we talked about the two NASA upcoming missions, DAVINCI+ and VERITAS which is an orbiter. David described the modern instrumentation going to Venus on these missions and the DAVINCI+ descent to the surface.  He even thought the mission might be able to survive a very short while on the surface but that was a big question.  VERITAS is an orbiting mission which our guest also described.  We discussed possible habitability and life in the clouds about 50 miles up from the surface. Dr. Grinspoon was asked about the phosphine issue.  Don't miss what he had to say but he did say the issue was an unknown at this point.
