John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Mackenzie Day of UCLA to the program to discuss ghost dunes on Mars.  Not only did Dr. Day describe the ghost dunes, we learned that the only other place in the solar system for such specific dunes was in a part of Idaho.  Our guest talked about the possibility of finding signs of past life in the ghost dune pits. In addition, she explained what the ghost dunes were and how they were created.  She explained how interesting excellent features tell us about many aspects of ancient Mars including the ancient Martian wind.  Our guest mentioned water and volcanic activity regarding the ghost dunes.  When asked about exploring them, she much preferred human exploration so don't miss that discussion near the end of our segment.  Read about ghost dunes at https://phys.org/news/2018-07-scientists-ghost-dunes-mars.html.
