Welcome to what was to be a special open lines program for people who self-invite themselves to be a guest on TSS. This program was designed to give such folks a venue for being on TSS and possibly becoming a guest on a full Space Show program. We had one call, Randy from SpaceFab, regarding his equity crowdfunding venture for his space telescope project. Randy had called before on an Open Lines show. Randy updated us with his equity funding program and the plans for SpaceFab (see www.spacefab.us for more information). We talked to Randy about how the space telescope would work and what next was in store for the company as they pursue a sort of ten year plan that includes deep space mining of a metal asteroid. In addition, I asked Randy how he valued SpaceFab for equity purposes and what an "investor" might get in terms of an equity percentage in the company given their equity crowd funding program. Let us know what you think by posting on TSS blog.
We took a break after Randy's call and upon return, we received no further calls so I ended the program early. It was unfortunate that those who believe they are entitled to be a guest on The Space Show and always invite themselves did not take advantage of this opportunity. As I have learned over the years, self-invited and "entitled" guests don't listen to the show and don't check the website newsletter so for the most part they are not aware of these special opportunity programs designed just for them. I fail to understand why people want to be a guest on the program when they don't listen to it, follow it, or know anything about it, yet I hear from these folks on a regular basis and all seem entitled to be a guest on the show. I offer them a call to an OL program and to take advantage of one of these special programs I do during the year but they blow them and me off. So as 2017 draws to a close, I won't be making special opportunities available for the self-invited guest crowd in the future. They can call an OL show if they want and they can find out about them on the website newsletter and by listening to a few shows. As you might have detected, the self-invited guest crowd certainly frustrates and annoys me.
Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog for this program. I am available by email as always.
