John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Brian Weeden to Hotel Mars to discuss the US plan to reorganize national security space with the creation of a separate branch of the military known as the Space Force.  Dr. Weeden explained the reasoning for the reorganization, many of the national security needs that hoped to be address by creating a new branch of the military, AF and other military objections to crating the separate force, the potential Chinese threat to space security and much more. This was a comprehensive, to the point and non-nonsense two part Hotel Mars discussion that you should definitely hear. In addition, do note that Brian will soon return to do a full Space Show program with us on the concept of creating a special military force for the Space Force rather than a Space Corp which would be organized under the USAF as is the Marine Corp under the US Navy.  During the second part we focused on the Chinese space activities and the threat represented by China and its plans, statement and policy.  Before the program ended, Brian suggested he thought the better option might be to create a space corp under the AF the way the Marines are under the Navy.
