We welcomed documentary filmmaker Billy Miossi to the show to discuss his new film, "It's Quieter in the Twilight. "  To find out more about the film, I suggest you check out the following websites plus view the trailer per the links below:

Some of what we talked about is available on these and other sites with more detail than we had time for in our discussion.  Billy told us a captivating story for an hour about Voyage 1 and 2 and the incredible team keeping the mission alive all this time.  If you thought you knew the Voyager mission in detail, you will absolutely be surprised by the great information given us by Billy and his film.  Yes, most of us are familiar with Voyagers 1 and 2, that they are in interstellar space and have gone further than any other spacecraft ever launched from Earth.  However, the Voyager story does not stop there.  Billy talked in depth about the people keeping the mission alive.  Also, we learned about how the team is keeping the remaining instruments alive and well as some have failed and can not come back.  He shared with us how the crew was doing things to keep the spacecraft from freezing and going dark forever.  Billy also told us some family stories about the crew members, even their kids who for many of the team members had not even been born yet by launch date.

Later in the show, listeners asked about the power and how much was left for the onboard RTG's for each spacecraft.  Wait till you hear how much power the two spacecraft are consuming yet still operating.  In addition, understanding how far away from Earth Voyager 1 and 2 were plus the time delay for sending signals to the spacecraft, while we knew they were far out there, putting it im time and distance terminology was really something.

I strongly urge you the listener to see this film.  As we were coming close to the end of the discussion, Billy told us how we could see it which for now was only online.  To see your watching options, visit https://www.itsquieterfilm.com/where-to-watch.  Before ending, listeners talked about lessons learned, challenges with the mission, JPL and even challenges in getting permission to do the film and work with the Voyager team  Don't miss this great discussion.
