We welcomed all to our Open Lines program of two segments for 103 minutes. Note that the break between the first and second segments came as I read our sponsor messages on air. I started the program with an appeal for supporting The Space Show during our annual campaign as your help is still needed. The campaign is our lifeblood going into 2020 and your support is essential for The Space Show to continue with our guests, programming, features and benefits so we remain broadcast strong for the year. Partner with us by supporting us. You can use the PayPal link at the top of our home page or send a check to One Giant Leap Foundation, P.O. Box 95, Tiburon, CA 94920. Thank you for your support and being with us and staying with us as we move into our 19th year.
I recommended topics including a discussion point or two regarding commercial crew and looming deadlines for both Boeing SpaceX but listeners had their own topics they wanted to discuss. Our first call came from Ft. Worth John. John had posted a comment on the blog from our previous Open Lines program regarding physics, breakthroughs, our future and related matter. He got a blog comment reply from another listener who was not in agreement with him so he called to talk about physics, a possible lack of new breakthroughs and he asked if we were we doing physics for knowledge only without much practical application. John wanted to clarify his thinking in light of the other listener's blog post. Don't miss what John said on this topic. Share your thoughts with us by posting on the blog.
Marshall was the next caller and he wanted to talk about John's comments plus science research in general. Marshall zoomed in on luck or serendipity which he thought John was not considering when looking at either outcomes or the future. Marshall also wanted to stress advancement of physics and science using SSP as an example.
The next caller was Dr. Doug wanting to promote the Space Development Network which is a sponsor of TSS program. Doug talked about future plans for the Network, near term plans, and partnership operations. I asked him about his arrangement with the University of Arizona but listen to what he said about that. I hope Doug continues his sponsorship into 2020.
Following Doug we took a call from John in Freemont. He brought to our attention an article in Fast Company about IKEA, Mars, small space design and space settlement. Check it out: www.fastcompany.com/90436537/now-that-ikea-has-colonized-earth-its-going-after-mars?partner=rss&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rss+fastcompany&utm_content=rss. John also posted this on the blog for this program.
Just before ending, Ft. Worth John called back to talk about dark matter and consciousness. Don't miss what he had to say. Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog for this show. You can reach any of the callers through me.
