John Batchelor and I welcomed back Eric Berger of Ars Technica to review the recent successful SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo-2 flight taking US astronauts to the ISS. This flight was the return to human spaceflight for the United States. Eric talked about the flight on the Falcon 9 with the Crew Dragon capsule, the media production of the event including designer spacesuits and ground crew work suits, special Tesla cars for bringing the astronauts to the pad, the mission and the fact that the mission took place just a few days before the 10th anniversary of Falcon 9 and one day after the Starship test explosion at the SpaceX testing site in Texas. Eric wrote an article about the Falcon 9 birthday which you can read here: https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/06/forget-dragon-the-falcon-9-rocket-is-the-secret-sauce-of-spacexs-success. Later in our one segment discussion, John asked about the Boeing CST 100 and future test flights or actually starting commercial service to the ISS. Don't miss what Eric said about CST 100 delays and the advantages that will likely fall to SpaceX as a result of Boeing delays.
You can email Mr. Batchelor or Eric Berger through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com or the Ars Technica website.
