John Batchelor and I welcomed back Anatoly Zak (see www.russianspaceweb.com) to update us on the Russian space program and new Russian defense projects making use of satellites and space. Our discussion topics included the antisatellite missile test known as NUDOL, the Heads-up satellite early warning system to detect incoming ICBMs and other weapons on a global basis, the new space complex, Baiterek, plus the proposed joint European and Russian lunar mission to start lunar settlement, scheduled for approximately 2029. Anatoly had much to say about these developments, including expressing his opinion as to the long term sustainability of the project or the potential impact of the project, especially on the defense side. You can email Mr. Batchelor or Anatoly Zak through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com. Anatoly can also be reached through his website.
