Dr. Jordin Kare

Jordin Kare is the co-founder and chief scientist at LaserMotive, a Seattle-area startup which won the NASA Centennial Challenge competition for power beaming in 2009, and is now developing laser power beaming for aerospace and industrial use . He's one of the leading physicists in the field of laser-powered space launch and space propulsion. Before founding LaserMotive, he was a physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and then, for a decade, an independent consultant on advanced space systems and remote sensing technology. He is a lapsed astrophysicist, with a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Jordin is also a senior inventor and program manager at Intellectual Ventures in Bellevue WA. He is sole inventor or co-inventor on over 50 issued patents and over 400 pending patent applications.
