Dr. Alan Hale

Dr. Alan Hale is an astronomer and the co-discoverer of Comet Hale-Bopp in 1995. Dr. Hale is the founder of Southwest Institute for Space Research which is dedicated to furthering space research, diplomacy and education through space studies, and space commerce. Dr. Hale is also an expert on near-Earth objects and their possible impact on Earth and the search for planets outside our solar system. He is the founder of the Earthrise Project, an international goodwill and educational endeavor that Dr. Hale conceived in early 2002 which is built upon his previous efforts in science diplomacy. The Earthrise Project will create an interconnected network of telescopes through specific observatories to foster international collaboration in observational projects. Earthrise is designed to bring peoples of the world together through astronomy.
