David J. Ruck was raised in Whitehall, Michigan, by John and Marilyn Ruck. From early on, he showed a love for the Great Lakes, and - basically - anything to do with water. He also loved to explore the woods near his parents' house, built tree houses, dug fox holes, and tried very hard to get lost. His father brought home a video camera in the early 90's and it was shortly thereafter that David was hooked on capturing things on film. He went on to Grand Valley State University and received a BS in Film & Video in 2004. In 2007, he received his MS in Communication. In 2013, David completed the three-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree at the American University in Washington, DC. It was at AU's flagship program in filmmaking that David honed skills in storytelling, cinematography, and then began to venture off to begin his career as an educator, filmmaker, and explorer. He currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland, where he and his producing partner, Anne Menotti, are working on several documentaries and other projects for clients.
