John Batchelor and I welcomed back Dr. Mark Sundahl to discuss new concerns, efforts and issues regarding commercial space regulation going forward.  We talked about the FAA AST mandate to streamline the launch licensing process per the National Space Council.  Also, the zone between the launch and re-entry is known as No Man's Land and that is essentially unregulated space and activity.  There is a move afoot to have light tough regulation in this area, in keeping with the way the OST is understood.  There is competition with the Dept. of Commerce and FAA AST for the regulation of this area.  As you will hear, the commercial space industry wants light tough regulation to add to stability for economic growth.  I also asked our guest about ways to prevent light tough regulation from morphing into excessive regulation.  Don't miss this most interesting double segment Hotel Mars program.

You can email Mr. Batchelor or Dr. Sundahl through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com.  Dr. Sundahl can also be contacted through his law university position which John talked about a few times during the segment.
