John Batchelor and I welcomed back Anatoly Zak of www.russianspaceweb.com to discuss changes with the Russian space company Roscosmos, in particular with Dmitry Rogozin. Anatoly had much to say about the controversial Rogozin and the Russian commercial as well as military space programs. In addition, we talked about the anniversary of the USSR Sputnik 3 which was actually the first real Soviet space science mission. Don't miss the explanation and timing behind Sputnik e and the reasons both Sputnik 1 and Sputnik 2 (Laika) were launched first instead of the science payload satellite known as Sputnik 3. To round off our discussion, we talked about the Russian participation in the LOP-G which is known in Russian as the Russian Lunar Gateway. We talked about Russian rockets being used for the module rather than US rockets, problems within the Russian rocket industry and other issues including what exactly the Russian module would do with the gateway platform. Note that this was a double segment Hotel Mars program.
