John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Pete Worden to this double segment Hotel Mars program to discuss the Breakthrough Prize Organization, the Breakthrough Initiative, Project Starshot, Listen, active and passive SETI, interstellar flight, laser power, micro wafers, Alpha Centauri, Proxima B and much more.  Dr. Worden described all the Breakthrough projects but we focused on Listen and Starshot which he described in detail.  We talked cost reduction for laser power, timelines, and the likely interstellar Starshot missing design.  Since the Starshot mission would be a flyby mission, Dr. Worden described how that might work and what it would look like.  We discussed mission risks which included a short discussion of the primary risk, interstellar dust.  Exoplanets were talked about along with more on all the Breakthrough initiatives and prizes.

You can email Mr. Batchelor  through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com.  Dr. Worden can be reached through me as well as the Breakthrough websites.
