John Batchelor and I welcomed back William (Bill) Harwood, CBS Space News Reporter, to update us on the new NASA budget of $19.9 billion plus the future of the ISS starting in 2025. Regarding the budget, we talked about winners and program cancelations including the much wanted scientific space telescope WFIRST (Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope).  Also discussed was the Lunar Orbital Platform, the DSG, orbiting the Moon as compared to building a lunar base on the surface, using the Moon as a stepping stone to Mars and much more.  We then switched to discussing the future of the ISS beyond 2024 starting with 2025 as there has been talk from the administration about privatizing the ISS.  Nobody is yet clear on what this means or how it might happens and there are lots of questions about it still to be answered.  Bill provided us with as much clarity on this issue as possible for today but this will be an evolving story we will certainly follow.

You can email Mr. Batchelor or Bill Harwood  through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com.  Please post any comments/questions you might have on TSS blog for this program.
